Terms of Use

Who we are, and what this is

Talkpositive is a free, private, members-only peer-support community for people living with HIV, operated by Talkpositive Ltd (company number 17445123, registered in England and Wales). By using Talkpositive you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. Talkpositive is peer support, not a medical or crisis service (see below).

Who can join

• You must be 18 or over.
• Talkpositive is exclusively for people living with HIV. When you join you confirm this is true. Please do not create an account if it is not; it is what keeps this a safe space for the people it is for.
• One account per person. Keep your login details to yourself.

Being here

The spirit of this place is our Community Agreement: you can ask anything, reassurance is welcome, what is shared here stays here, and we meet each other with kindness. In addition, you agree not to:

• harass, threaten, bully, degrade, out, or discriminate against anyone;
• share another member's identity, or anything shared with you in confidence;
• post content that is unlawful, hateful, sexually exploitative, or that sexualises minors;
• give medical instructions as if you were a clinician, or sell or promote products, treatments, or services;
• spam, scrape, impersonate, or attempt to break, overload, or misuse the service;
• use Talkpositive to solicit money, or to prey on vulnerable members.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you post. You grant us a limited licence to store and display it so the service works. You can edit or delete your content, and delete your whole account, at any time. Please share your own experience, not others' private information.

Moderation

To keep people safe, we may remove content and suspend or remove accounts that break these Terms, without notice where necessary. We favour warmth over punishment, but safety comes first. You can report content or people in the app, and block anyone.

Not medical, legal, or crisis advice

Talkpositive is peer support. Nothing here is medical, legal, or professional advice, and members are not vetted professionals. Always consult a qualified clinician about your health and treatment. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services. Crisis resources are listed here.

We keep what you share confidential, except when we believe someone's life is in immediate danger or a child is at risk. Then we may contact the emergency services or the police, sharing only what is needed. Our Privacy Policy explains this.

Privacy and security

We handle your data as described in our Privacy Policy. Messages are encrypted at rest but are not end-to-end encrypted, so please do not treat any online space as guaranteed confidential, and remember other members can read, screenshot, or repeat what you share in group spaces.

Availability and liability

Talkpositive is provided "as is" and "as available", and we may change, suspend, or withdraw features. To the extent permitted by law, Talkpositive Ltd is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for the actions of other members. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Ending your use, and governing law

You can leave any time by deleting your account. We may end or suspend your access if you break these Terms or to protect the community. These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
